Microsoft's Piracy Check

When it comes to Microsoft's attempt to curb the pirating of Windows. The only people that it is going to hurt are the individual user that uses Windows at home. And also, I did not see anything when it comes to older versions of Windows. (i.e. pre-Windows XP) I am going to assume that MS will just ignore those which will be good for people with older boxes that just don't have the cash to upgrade to a more powerful box. Or are happy with what they got and have no desire to upgrade. If not, I would love to know what MS would do about it. Because currently, they are offering low-cost/free copies of Windows XP Home if you report the piracy (i.e. tell them where you got it from). The problem is that if you are using an older version of Windows it is most probably because that machine will not run Windows XP Home. Or it is does it runs it so poorly that it makes the PC worthless. That is why I make the above assumption.
